Piano & Specialty Moving: pricing and minimums
Piano and specialty moving uses a three-person crew at $300/hour, with a two-hour minimum and a one-time $50 travel fee per mover. That is a $750 minimum before any separately agreed scope; acceptance depends on the item and access.
Item size and weight, stairs, tight turns, carry distance, and special handling requirements affect feasibility and time. This is not the standard $260/hour three-mover household package.
Feasibility comes before a moving date
The item and the route must be assessed together. A wide doorway does not establish that a stair landing or floor route is suitable. We review specialty work before confirming acceptance; the hourly rate is not a promise that every piano, safe, or access situation can be handled. Tuning, repair, rigging, and other specialist services should not be assumed to be included.
Before your appointment
- Provide the item type, model, dimensions, and manufacturer weight if known.
- Share photos of the item, stairs, landings, doorways, and the route to parking at both ends.
- Identify the destination position and any fragile surfaces or restricted access.
- Wait for the handling plan; do not attempt to dismantle or reposition a heavy item to prepare it.

Can you move my piano?
Send the piano type, dimensions, and access details first. We assess the particular instrument and route before confirming acceptance.
Do you move safes?
Safes can be reviewed as specialty items. Provide the model, dimensions, weight if known, and both access routes.
Is specialty moving charged at the standard three-mover rate?
No. The specialty three-person crew is $300/hour, with a two-hour minimum and $50 travel per mover.
Can you take a piano up stairs?
Stairs require individual assessment. Share the flights, turns, landing dimensions, and photos; do not assume the move is feasible until reviewed.
Does the price include piano tuning?
Do not assume tuning, repairs, or specialist instrument services are included. This page covers accepted moving work.
Can I book the move based only on a photo?
Photos help the review, but additional measurements or an on-site assessment may be needed before the work is accepted.
Should I move the item closer to the door first?
No. Leave heavy items in place and discuss preparation with us after the handling requirements have been reviewed.
What about insurance for a valuable item?
Discuss the item and applicable coverage terms, limits, and exclusions before agreeing to the move. Do not assume unlimited replacement-value coverage.
