What CAN and CANNOT Be Removed: Complete Northeast Ohio Guide

One of the most common questions we get before a junk removal appointment is: "Can you take this?" The answer is yes for the vast majority of household and commercial items — but there are important exceptions, especially for hazardous materials. This guide gives you a complete, honest breakdown so there are no surprises on the day of your appointment.

We serve Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Medina, Lake, Geauga, Portage, and Stark counties across Northeast Ohio.

Items We CAN Remove

Furniture

We take virtually all residential and commercial furniture: sofas, sectionals, loveseats, recliners, dining tables, chairs, desks, bookshelves, dressers, nightstands, bed frames, headboards, and entertainment centers. Condition doesn't matter — broken, stained, or outdated furniture is fine.

Mattresses and Box Springs

All sizes: twin, full, queen, king, California king. We handle mattress disposal responsibly — many are recycled rather than landfilled.

Appliances

We remove major and small appliances including refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, air conditioners, water heaters, and dehumidifiers. Freon-containing appliances are handled by certified technicians.

Electronics (E-Waste)

TVs (all types including CRTs), computers, laptops, monitors, printers, fax machines, stereo equipment, and gaming consoles. Electronics are taken to certified e-waste recyclers — not the landfill.

Yard Waste and Outdoor Items

Branches, brush, leaves, sod, soil, fencing, decking, patio furniture, grills, lawn mowers, snow blowers, swing sets, trampolines, and above-ground pools.

Construction and Renovation Debris

Drywall, lumber, flooring, tiles, insulation (non-asbestos), roofing shingles, concrete (limited quantities), bricks, and general construction waste from DIY projects.

Hot Tubs, Sheds, and Specialty Items

Full removal including draining, disconnection, and disposal for hot tubs. Disassembly and removal of wood, metal, and vinyl sheds of all sizes.

What Happens to Your Items

  • Donated: Furniture and household goods in usable condition go to Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and local shelters in Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lorain counties.
  • Recycled: Metals go to scrap yards. Electronics go to certified e-waste recyclers.
  • Landfilled: Only items that cannot be donated or recycled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you take a refrigerator with food still in it? We prefer items to be emptied before removal, but we can work with you if that's not possible.

Do you take items from second floors or basements? Yes — interior removal from any floor is included in our standard service across all Northeast Ohio counties.

I have asbestos floor tiles — can you take the rest of my basement contents? Yes. We can remove all other items from the space. We simply won't disturb or transport the asbestos tiles themselves.
