Avon Lake Pickup, Cleanout & Moving Guide
Planning a cleanout or move in Avon Lake? Start by separating what you are keeping, what may qualify for public curbside collection and what needs a paid carrying or hauling service. This guide explains those choices without treating every unwanted item as a reason to book a truck.
CLE serves Avon Lake from its Parma base. For help reviewing your project, call (216) 673-0678 or schedule a free on-site estimate. An estimate appointment is not a reservation for the paid move or cleanout.
City bulk pickup or paid junk removal?
Avon Lake's residential collection program uses Kimble. The city currently lists a monthly allowance of up to two cubic yards of bulk and excess trash on the regular collection day; additional collection has separate arrangements and fees. Private-street contracts can differ. Check the official refuse and recycling page for your address, timing and accepted items before putting anything out.
Public curbside pickup may fit an eligible item you can safely prepare yourself. CLE's Avon Lake junk removal is a separate paid option when you need indoor carry-out, several rooms cleared or an agreed service appointment. We do not operate the municipal program.
Plan by item and access
For furniture, list each piece and its floor. For appliances, confirm safe utility preparation and disclose refrigerant-containing equipment. A garage or basement cleanout needs a walkthrough of everything included, not just the most visible pile.
Lake Road, Miller Road, Walker Road and Avon Belden Road are useful location references, but your driveway, stairs and parking determine the carrying plan. Identify shared access and get any property-manager approvals. Mark saved belongings and keep hazardous or unknown material out of ordinary debris.
For an estate cleanout, agree who can approve removal and set aside records, valuables and keepsakes. Standard finishing is sweeping. Deep cleaning, mold treatment, pest work and repairs are not part of ordinary hauling.
Yard debris and outdoor projects
The city has seasonal yard-waste collection and specific preparation rules; waste generated by professional landscapers or tree contractors is excluded from that city service. Check the official collection page before choosing curbside disposal.
With CLE yard-debris removal, ordinary loose branches and debris do not need to be pre-bagged or piled. Tell us where gathering is needed. Heavy logs, soil, rock and root balls require separate review. Tree cutting and stump grinding are not automatically included.
Hot tubs and sheds and light demolition require a structure, utility and access assessment. Resolve required permits and registrations before work. State whether the base is staying or whether base removal should be assessed separately.
Electronics, hazardous items and donation
Avon Lake is in Lorain County. The Lorain County Collection Center publishes its eligibility, accepted materials and current hours. Check before visiting; a public drop-off resource is not a guarantee that a commercial hauling load will be accepted.
Disclose chemicals, fuels, batteries and unknown material before a CLE appointment. Electronics hauling does not include certified data destruction: back up and wipe devices or arrange an appropriate specialist first.
Eligible furniture and household items may be considered for donation, depending on condition and receiver acceptance. Contact the receiving organization before relying on a drop-off. CLE does not promise that all usable items will be accepted or that a tax receipt will be available.
Moving from Avon Lake
Avon Lake moving services cover homes, apartments, offices and customer-rented storage. Destinations are generally within 50 miles of our Parma base, not a new 50-mile radius from Avon Lake. Farther projects are reviewed individually.
For an apartment move, confirm elevator reservations, permitted hours and loading locations. For storage moving, confirm gate access and the destination of each group of belongings. You rent the storage unit separately.
Moving plus junk removal lets you move what you keep and clear accepted unwanted items with one company. The two services remain separately priced, with no automatic bundle discount. Label each group before the walkthrough.
Understand the price before booking
Junk-removal jobs start at the $149 minimum. Standard volume anchors are $249 for a quarter truck, $399 for a half truck and $699 for a full truckload. A standard couch is $184 for standard access. Actual contents, weight, access and the accepted scope determine the confirmed quote; demolition and larger specialist projects need individual assessment.
Standard moving is $190 per hour for two movers, $260 for three or $340 for four, with a two-hour minimum and a one-time $50 travel fee per mover. Packing and assembly are $80 per worker-hour, with the same two-hour minimum and $50 travel per worker; supplied packing materials are additional.
Specialty moves use $300 per crew-hour, a two-hour minimum and $150 travel, for a $750 minimum. Furniture delivery is separate: $380 all-in for two movers and up to two hours, no travel fee; additional time is quoted at $190 per hour.
Your estimate checklist
- List the items, rooms and any separate garage or storage areas.
- Share the property address and, for moves, the destination address.
- Describe stairs, gates, elevators, loading distance and parking restrictions.
- Mark belongings to keep, move, donate if accepted or remove.
- Disclose hazardous material, pests, damaged batteries and utility connections.
- Explain your deadline, keys and building-access arrangements.
Same-day service may be available, but the crew schedule must be confirmed. CLE usually responds within one business hour; that is a response expectation, not an arrival guarantee. After hours, book an estimate online and include your project details.
